    I thought I was the only one, modern sensors just don't do it for me. Still remember saving up 1k for the 5D classic in 2009, its color and rendering were magic. Still shoot with a Mark II after all these years and its colors just feel so much better than newer cameras I've tried replacing it with, 5D mark 4, Canon R, R6, Sony mirrorless. Only new camera I loved is a friends Hasselblad 100mp X2d, beautfiul images.

    Yes. But, I would still prefer native Z mount lenses without an adapter. There are probably more now than before, but, I definitely like Voigtlander's offerings, and you get the electronic contacts, too. I agree with some others that having a somewhat ugly adapter sandwiched in-between the Zf and a nice vintage lens kind of kills the appeal, although functionally it works. For me, I think one way of maybe drawing less attention to such a lens adapter would be to use with longer telephoto lenses. The adapter's visual footprint will be greatly minimized in comparison to the camera body and large/longer lens attached. Aesthetically it may look more palpable and barely notice it. The Zf's auto subject detect and ability to quickly confirm focus with a green box and quickly zoom into focus details is quite the user experience and a treat to use.

    This is a toss up for me like them both and the image quality is fantastic on both. Not that I'm a gear snob but having had canon cameras for years I would say how much I love Canon colors but honestly if you don't tag them I would not be able to tell them apart. For me it has come down to a choice between these two cameras, it is hard to justify the extra $500 for the Canon but I love the flip out display mostly because I like to turn it around to protect the screen.. The Canon is more than I want to pay but I can sell off my DSLR gear to offset the price.. Who knows I may end up with the Nikon., I go back and forth on this 😂

    Why not switch to camcorder style gear where everything is built in and made for video. By the time you buy a body and lenses you could have a dedicated video recorder with smooth focusing, zooming, record time, etc.

    I'm here watching this video and just wondering why my eyes are NOT seeing a Konica Hexanon 50mm f1.4 AR lens. Definitely should ve in there somewhere. Oh, I agree with the Canon choices. The breech-lock system was what made me choose Nikon many decades ago. And you know....once you go with a system you're kinda.....with that system. Especially back then. Now it's easier to have however many systems you want. Thanks gor the nice video.

    One thing I can agree is that unless someone is a subscriber, he/she may not share your same feelings or thoughts about this camera. Personally I am a pro-sumer user and as I moved from DSLR to mirrorless, I found this camera being a good entry point. It is expensive for what it offers, yes, and it feels cheap. But if you get it used for 599, it is a great deal; which is what I got it for. The rest is relative... I don't care about the looks, even if I had those film cameras in the past, as that is not enough alone to make me open my wallet, if the specs are not what I need. And as I have other Nikon lenses, the switch is not that bad as it would be with Fuji; which are the other range I was looking at. With some work the z-FC may work but it is a product made for specific people, and if you find it used it is hitting the mark 100% IMO. Then if you buy it new at 999 for just the body; there is better stuff around, but still, it is not as bad as many reviews paint it. I would call this the equivalent of a "dumb phone": it takes pictures, so it does what a camera should do; but lacks all that bloat and stuff that we came to accept in modern digital cameras. If you look at the objective that this camera set for itself, it did hit the mark perfectly, as it is a camera that takes pictures and that's it... With a retro look. It is just overpriced but you can get it used.

    The flange distance goes both ways, it can be too short. Notice how your ZF is too front heavy? This is why I think the Leica L mount is the perfect mount for adapting vintage SLR lenses.

    I have a canon 24mm 2.8 fd mount lens that I really like with it. My other big fav is the legendary 105mm 2.5 (early sonnar design). It just looks so gosh dark pretty with all the chrome (and the lock/unlock ring on my adapter just happens to have a very similar color, creating a very cohesive look). Been trying to decide what other lenses I could add to my roster. of course I have a helios 44-2.

    @kwillmorth 25 дней назад

    The comparison is ridiculous. Comparing the 70-100 @ 70mm to the 24-240 @ 24mm is a stupid comparison. First, of course the wide angle 24mm focus at the corners is softer than the 70mm. A more realistic comparison would be both set to 70mm. Second, the useable range of the 70-200, with no wide angle, is limited compared to the 24-240, which is much more versatile. You cannot consider the 70-200 as a single lens solution, as you would need to add at least a 24mm and a 50mm lens, perhaps a 35mm, to have the same versatility as the one 24-240. This comparison and its premise is poorly considered and essentially useless for its stated objective decision making. Sorry, but this is a big miss IMHO.

    Thanks Andrew for your insights to the Zf and especially adapting manual lenses, as I've collected 20 of them!. I have followed your channel for a long time and I know you are a Fuji fanboy so to hear you talk about this camera with so much interest makes me wonder? I am a 66 year old Fuji fangirl starting with the XT-1 and now my old XT-2. I need to replace my XT-2 now as it has too many issues. I do landscape photography often in low light and some bird photography as we have special birds here in NZ. Since your first review of the Zf I now have a choice yo make, the XT-5 or go full frame for better dynamic range and low light performance. I like the dials and film sims of the X series but the Zf is seeming very appealing now.
